Dr Rael Futerman

Dr Rael Futerman is a designer and educator from Cape Town, South Africa. He received his Design Doctorate from CPUT (Cape Peninsula  University of Technology) for his work in developing participatory design methods for improved public inclusion in governmental innovation programmes. 

As co-founder and Chief Learning Officer at CARTEDO, he works at the intersection of Design Thinking and Learning Development. Through Cartedo, his aim is to design and promote inclusive learning opportunities at scale that develop ‘21st Century Skills’, such as and including creativity, collaboration, learning agility and building innovation & entrepreneurship capabilities of individuals & organisations

Prior to Cartedo, he worked as a founding Programme Manager at the University of Cape Town’s d-school, developing and leading design thinking programmes; and Programme Leader/Lecturer of Industrial Design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

For the creative entrepreneur, independent Inventor and product developer, Rael is fast becoming proficient in Licensing and open innovation. He serves on the panel of subject specialists for the
